This Wild White Sage (Salvia apiana) from which the essential oil is distilled, is wild grown using sustainable and ecological harvesting practices in southern California. It grows wild in the perpetually sun drenched high desert up to at around 1.2km altitude. This extremely rare essential oil is distilled in very small quantities. It is sometimes known as Bee Sage or Sacred Sage.

American tribal names for this plant include Qaashil, Shlhtaay, Pilhtaay, Kasiile, We’wey, Qas’ily, Shaltai and Ihtaay
The seed from the plant was collected once in great quantities and used as a main ingredient of Pinole, a staple food of Western Coastal Tribal Native Americans.
